PROJECT: RECREATING LAS MENINAS THROUGH NEW LANGUAGES
Timeline: March–May 2024
Participants: 2nd and 5th grade of Primary Education
On the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the restoration of Las Meninas by Velázquez, our school was invited, through the eTwinning platform, to take part in an international project. The aim of the project is to introduce and explore this famous painting through different forms of expression.
From the Physical Education area, we approached it through body language, interpretation, and body expression. Our goal? To learn more about art while working on our body expression. From the PE area, we began researching both the artist and his most famous work. Our eTwinning partners from different European schools have helped us by sharing part of their work and experiences related to this painting.
For this reason, we are sharing here the music video “Yo soy guapa”.
It is a great performance carried out by our 5th grade Primary Education students.

Con motivo del 40 aniversario de la restauración de “Las Meninas” de Velázquez, se le ha propuesto al centro a través de la plataforma E-Twinning participar en un proyecto a nivel internacional. Se trata de dar a conocer este cuadro a través de diferentes lenguajes.
Desde el área de Educación Física, lo haremos a través del lenguaje gestual, la interpretación y la expresión corporal. ¿Nuestro objetivo? Saber más sobre arte a la vez que trabajamos nuestra expresión corporal, desde el área de EF hemos empezado a investigar tanto al artista como a su obra más conocida. Nuestros socios de E-Twinning pertenecientes a diferentes escuelas europeas nos han ayudado compartiendo con nosotros parte de su trabajo y experiencias sobre esta Pintura.
Es por eso, que os compartimos aquí el videoclip musical de "Yo soy guapa".
Una gran actuación llevada a cabo por nuestros alumnos de 5º de Educación Primaria.

From 2nd grade of Primary Education, we also wanted to learn more about this iconic work of art while sharing our work with other schools in Spain and Romania. The aim was to study and get to know a little better the painting Las Meninas by Velázquez, or rather, The Family of Philip IV. How did we do it? We researched each character in the painting and created our own audio painting. We hope you like it and learn many new things. Pay close attention, as there are surely many interesting facts you didn’t know. We searched for information and recorded our voices using Audacity in the Classroom of the Future. Here you can find our video with English subtitles so we can share it with everyone.
Desde 2º de Educación Primaria también queremos conocer más sobre esta emblemática obra de la pintura a la vez que compartimos nuestro trabajo con otros "coles" de España y Rumanía. Se trata de estudiar y conocer un poquito el cuadro de "Las Meninas" de Velázquez o, mejor dicho, "La familia de Felipe IV". ¿Cómo? Hemos investigado sobre cada personaje del cuadro y hemos preparado nuestro propio "audiocuadro". Esperamos que os guste y aprendáis muchas cosas. Estad muy atentos/as porque seguro que hay muchas curiosidades que no sabíais. Hemos buscado información y hemos grabado nuestras voces a través del "Audacity", en el Aula del Futuro. Ahí os dejamos nuestro vídeo con subtítulos en inglés para poder compartirlo con todo el mundo.
